Project 00
Title
Practical Implementation of a benchmark Urban Resilience Model by employing the USAH model in the Kish Island.
Project Goals
This project aims to establish a practical urban resilience model using the USAH framework in the Kish Island. By conducting a case study in Kish, the project will identify challenges and opportunities in implementing the USAH system. Real data collection across the five layers of the system will be carried out in collaboration with stakeholders, focusing on the difficulties in stakeholder interaction and the challenges of executing complex network analysis in a real-world setting.
Project Phases
1- Data Collection: Gathering data from the five layers of the USAH framework.
2- Methodology Refinement: Identifying components and subcomponents of urban resilience systems specific to Kish Island.
3- Stakeholder Interaction: Engaging with stakeholders to address challenges and assess their cooperation in data collection.
4- Documentation: Identifying and documenting challenges in implementing the urban resilience program.
5- System Development: Establishing a foundational system for urban resilience on Kish Island, with future potential for expansion and improvement.
6- Resilience Assessment: Evaluating Kish Island’s resilience to natural hazards, water, and energy stress.
Expected Outputs
- Identification of stakeholders across various urban resilience sub-systems.
- Conducting workshops to familiarize stakeholders with project goals.
- Developing questionnaires to collect qualitative data for resilience indicators.
- Planning and conducting expert sessions to define relationships and dependencies between resilience system components.
- Development of a benchmark model describing the network of relationships between components of the urban resilience model at different layers.
- Assessing the resilience of Kish Island against natural hazards, water and energy stresses, separated into each of the six main urban resilience subsystems.
- Identifying the components of Kish’s urban resilience system that have the lowest level of resilience against natural hazards or unforeseen shocks.
- Providing solutions to increase the resilience of Kish Island.
- Providing suggestions for improving the methodology for assessing Kish’s urban resilience based on the USAH framework.
- Developing strategies for community participation in promoting urban resilience in Kish Island.
- Documenting the challenges in implementing urban resilience strategies.
Challenges
- Data quality and stakeholder cooperation are critical to successful project execution.
- Engagement with stakeholders to ensure accurate and complete data collection is essential.
